R. David Hayward, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the Duke University Center for Spirituality, Theology, and Health. He received his BA in Psychology from Ohio University in 2003, and his PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno in May, 2008. Dr. Hayward's primary areas of research interest include the role of social psychological processes mediating the effects of religion on well-being, the impact of religious history on the development of cultural values, and the cognitive construction of existential meaning systems. He also has extensive experience in research analysis, particularly with hierarchical and multi-level modeling techniques, and has acted as a statistical consultant on numerous projects. Dr. Hayward has several recent and forthcoming publications in the field of religion and well-being in journals including the European Journal of Social Psychology, and Sociology of Religion.
