Bishop Kenneth L. Carder is the Ruth W. and A. Morris Williams, Jr. Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry at Duke Divinity School. Prior to joining the Divinity School faculty in September 2004, he served as the United Methodist Bishop of Mississippi (2000-2004) and the Nashville Area (1992-2000). Preceding his election to the episcopacy, Dr. Carder served as pastor of churches in Bristol, Knoxville, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Abingdon, Virginia. He received his B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University, a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from Vanderbilt Divinity School with a concentration in the relationship between worship/liturgies and mental health. He is the author of four books and a numbers of articles.
